A chronicle of current failures (abridged)

I've spent about 4 weeks now trying to permanently shape hair the way I want it.  Many strategies have failed.  I'm currently trying out a home made crimper along with relaxer and shellac.  There are bats in the attic.

a palm is the width of four fingers

a foot is the width of four palms (i.e. 12 inches)
a cubit is the width of six palms
a man's height is four cubits (and thus 24 palms)
a pace is four cubits
the length of a man's outspread arms is equal to his height
